From Patients

I have just arrived home after my first appointment with you regarding a second opinion. I simply wish to say thank you, once again. You are an incredibly kind and considerate man and I appreciated, not only everything you said, but the manner in which you so naturally relayed the information to me. You have made me a very, very happy lady today and I thank God he has put me in such capable hands.

I just wanted to thank you following my recent operation. Your upfront but patient approach was very reassuring at what was obviously a scary and uncertain time for me. May I take this opportunity to wish you all the best and thanks again.

I wanted to thank you for what you have done for me over the last 2 years since being diagnosed with cancer of the vulva. You have always dealt kindly with me and have never been too busy to answer any questions. Also on the two occasions when the cancer reappeared you were very quick in dealing with it, for which I was very grateful. I cant speak too highly of the way I was looked after on the 3 occasions I was hospitalised at the Royal Surrey Hospital. They looked after me very well.

Further to my phone call I wanted to compliment Mr Tailor on the operation he performed on me. I am really pleased with the results and wanted him to know how I felt, especially at this time with major cut backs and complaints. I was also impressed with the hospital and the nursing I received albeit for a short period of time. I particularly want the Chief Executive of the hospital to know that robotic surgery is wonderful and the short time it has taken me to recover. If this type of surgery is not used more often it would be a great shame to other patients and the NHS alike and would cost a lot more for hospitalisation and to keep patients on medical care after surgery.

I would firstly like to thank you for the care I have received recently. My husband and I are most grateful for the speed at which you have dealt with things from my diagnosis. You have given us the confidence to deal with this each step of the way. I feel honoured and very lucky to have access to your expertise.

Just to say thanks for all you’ve done for my wife. The work that you do on a daily basis is incredible and the compassion you showed during our consultation helped both of us a lot.

The First Consultation You were not what I expected from your call or your text. You were warm, gentle, reassuring. Matter of fact, Not rushed, Illustrating organs with a simple diagram. During the internal check, You turned the ultrasound screen to me. Highlighting the jagged edges, You said you would explain the significance later. You didn’t have to. You emphasised a midline, Not bikini line incision was needed. Slowly, you explained what would be cut out. Ovaries, uterus, cervix, omentum, appendix, a few nodes, It sounded like a grocery list. My husband looked on ashen. I felt in good hands, safe hands, sure hands. And in God’s Hands.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your kindness during my recent hysterectomy... as you know I have had several gynaecological operations and I can honestly say that, although this operation was by far the most serious one, it was the least upsetting, both physically and psychologically. This was mainly due to your expertise in the operating theatre. It took a great deal of time and trouble to ensure that there would be minimal scarring and bruising so that my postoperative recovery would be shortened. However I was also impressed by the time you spent to listen to patients and explain the procedures. All too often patients feel a passive partner in their surgery which is unhelpful psychologically but you ensured that I was kept informed at all times. Thank you.... I would also like to take this opportunity to pass on my thanks to your surgical team and your secretary. Everyone with whom I came into contact was extremely helpful and considerate which was very much appreciated.... I hope you will pass on my best wishes to all your staff. You undoubtedly have built a good team and I wish them and yourself all the best for the future. I will have no hesitation in recommending your skills to any friend who might need a gynaecologist.

Dear Mr Tailor…. There are no words that can truly convey the measure of thanks I owe to you and your team. The expertise of you and your team, the kindness and caring of all the nursing staff and the care that surrounded me at this stressful time all brought me to where I am today. The family call it a miracle – I call it Mr Tailor! …. You have become my hero and my thanks know no bounds. May God Bless you and enable you to continue your healing arts for many years to come.

Dear Mr Tailor…. We felt that we wanted to write to you to thank you for everything that you did for our Mother. We realise how lucky we have been to have you as her consultant. We feel that another consultant may not have persevered to the same extent due to her advancing years. Our Mother had a very high regard for you and your personable and affable nature made the visits far less onerous even when the news was not so good…We are finding it very difficult without her, but appreciate that she lived longer than some, but always felt that she would make it to a hundred. However, we know she would not have lived as long without you and your fantastic team.

Dear Mr Tailor … It is impossible to express fully my gratitude to you in words. My husband and I feel blessed that you were my surgeon and that you were with us during this traumatic time…. Thank you for caring and contacting me at Christmas time when I am sure you must have had lots of other things to do. Thank you for your gentle approach, dedication, hard work, operating skills and professionalism.
